Who is Mr.S ?
Hello. Welcome to History at Balboa Academy High School. My name is Mr. Russ Stayanoff. All my students call me”Mr.S.” and I’d prefer that you did too. I am a trained historian and hold an AS degree from Vincennes University, Vincennes, Indiana, a BA in History from LaGrange College, LaGrange Georgia, and an MA in Military History from Norwich University, Northfield, Vermont. I have written several articles on historical subjects as well as introduced many scholarly papers at universities throughout the United States. Why? It’s what historians do. My research interests include The Great War, MG Fox Conner and the inter-war US Army and the German Army on the Eastern Front, 1941-44. I absolutely enjoy teaching at Balboa Academy and living here in the Republic of Panama. As you will notice our classroom is a theater, museum and a classroom. History should come alive, be real and make you think…in my class it does and you will. I am a combat veteran of the US Army, (so I can deal with you, bucko )and I live in Clayton with my wife, daughter and our five wonderful cats. Oh yes, I almost forgot…I am a seer in the House of Earth. And baby, Earth rules! Earth’s goal? Win the Dragon Eye Trophy for a second year, of course. I look forward to another great year. Welcome.
